Sonya Khurana, MD, is a highly respected and decorated orthopedic surgeon and hand, upper extremity, and microvascular specialist. She treats upper extremity conditions from fingertip to shoulder and clavicle. Dr. Khurana is now seeing patients at Perimeter Orthopaedics, PC, in Atlanta (Sandy Springs) and Woodstock, Georgia.

Dr. Khurana received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, where she was enrolled in the prestigious 6 year accelerated premedical-medical program. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was the recipient of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society Medical Student Scholarship and the Frank and Louise Groff Foundation Scholarship. Dr. Khurana worked as an orthopedic trauma clinic research fellow at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases during this time.

She went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, where she was recognized with numerous honors, including the American Journal of Orthopedics Resident Writer’s Award for her research in post-traumatic osteoarthritis of the hip and the Hand Rehabilitation Foundation Snowmass Grant. Dr. Khurana received another Hand Rehabilitation Foundation Snowmass Grant as a hand and microvascular surgery fellow at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She received additional training in upper extremity and shoulder surgery from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Khurana’s research on fractures of the ulna, radius, and humerus has been published in a variety of professional journals. She has also authored textbook chapters on the care of orthopedic emergencies and presented at industry conferences regarding fracture protocols and repairs. She has special interest in research regarding osteoporosis and fragility fractures.

At Perimeter Orthopaedics, PC, Dr. Khurana specializes in diagnosing and treating adult and pediatric problems of the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder including fractures, nerve and tendon problems, sports injuries, congenital limb problems, joint instability, degenerative conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, and small and large joint replacement.

Dr. Khurana offers her patients exceptional orthopedic care. She looks forward to working with her patients to create a care plan that will help them get back to their hobbies and activities of daily living.
